WWE Extreme Rules 2018: Team Hell No Vs The Bludgeon Brothers Announced

Daniel Bryan’s shot at the WWE Championship has been spoiled by the Bludgeon Brothers, so should he get his revenge?

Last week, on SmackDown Live, Daniel Bryan was in ultimate underdog mode as he entered the five man gauntlet match to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship first.

Bryan (barely) survived two grueling match ups against Big E and Samoa Joe. They each pushed Bryan to the limit and left their mark (mainly on his chest) on the battered veteran.

Regardless, Daniel’s heart was willing him on as he was preparing for his next challenger.

Then, he was blindsided out of nowhere by the Bludgeon Brothers. They hit their double power bomb finishing move on the Yes Man, which let The Miz slide into the ring and steal a victory over his arch nemesis. Fans that were disappointed that The Miz eliminated Daniel Bryan were soon elated as none other than Rusev defeated Miz and became AJ Styles’ challenger for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules.

But that could have been Daniel Bryan’s time to shine had the Bludgeon Brothers not interfered. So, why did the tag team get involved in a matchup between singles competitors? Well, there’s a couple theories.

One theory was that The Miz paid off the Bludgeon Brothers, but Miz dispelled that theory on Miz TV when he questioned if the Bludgeon Brothers did it as an audition to be the new Miztourage. Harper and Rowan were not amused and obviously rejected that idea.

So, it looks like WWE could just be using some basic storytelling here. Daniel Bryan interrupted the Bludgeon Brothers’ “celebration” after their win, so Harper and Rowan decided to make Bryan pay later in the night.

If that’s the case, Daniel Bryan should be looking for retaliation in the form of a feud that will blow off at Extreme Rules. This would be great for all parties as the Bludgeon Brothers have already beaten some of SmackDown’s best tag teams including New Day, The Usos, and The Good Brothers, and Daniel Bryan gets to stay occupied without getting involved in the title picture or his money feud with Miz until SummerSlam or later.

At first, Bryan was looking to face Harper, Rowan, and even The Miz in singles competition. However, eventually the numbers game came back and knock Bryan down, as Erik Rowan broke up the match and led a beatdown on The Beard.

To the delight of the crowd, Kane came out to save his former tag team partner from the destruction. After disposing of the Bludgeon Brothers, Team Hell No did what they do best: hug it out! Then, Paige announced that they will challenge The Bludgeon Brothers for the belts at Extreme Rules.

Team Hell No vs. Bludgeon Brothers at Extreme Rules will be a great one off match for Kane and a great filler feud for Daniel Bryan as he will head into a big singles program for SummerSlam. This will also help keep Bryan, Harper, and Rowan strong as Kane will likely take the fall in the match.
