WWE SmackDown Live: The Bar Should Split Up
By Dalton Quix
The odd couple team of Sheamus and Cesaro has been one of WWE’s most successful tag teams, but it is time for them to go their separate ways on WWE SmackDown.
Sheamus is one of WWE’s most physical and brutal (in a good way) performers while Cesaro is one of WWE’s most technically sound wrestlers. This is why they were able to put on incredible matches day in and day out in their best of seven series.
Then, these aspects made them such an entertaaining tag team with Sheamus being the arrogant heel and Cesaro being the good guy getting cheered by the crowd. But, the team eventually hit their stride when they got on the same page and dethroned The New Day for the Raw Tag Team Championships.
They had a great run through WrestleMania and then had an amazing feud with the Hardy’s that resulted in a heel turn for The Bar. Their new attitude carried them to interesting feuds and matches with The Hardy’s, The Shield, and even The Usos.

Things then went downhill pretty fast for The Bar when, after defeating every team on Raw, lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to Braun Strowman and a 10 year old child. Then, they got shipped off to WWE SmackDown Live as a part of the Superstar Shakeup.
Since then, they’ve had a mini feud with The New Day that didn’t even result in a PPV blowoff match, and that really is it. With so many tag teams on SmackDown like The Usos, SAnitY, Bludgeon Brothers, Good Brothers, even Rusev Day, and now Team Hell No, there is not a lot of television time or feuds for The Bar.
On the flip side, there aren’t too many singles competitors on the blue brand at the moment, and the talented duo could definitely find air time there. Outside of Styles, Miz, Joe, Bryan, and Rusev in the main event scene and Hardy, Almas, Nakamura, and maybe Dillinger and Benjamin in the midcard, there really aren’t too many performers in those divisions.
The fans have been clamoring for Cesaro to get a world title shot eventually, and on SmackDown, it is the perfect opportunity for him to get a main event push. Meanwhile, Sheamus is a credible veteran that could easily work the main event or midcard scene to help build some new faces or get a run with a belt or two.

So, I think it is only natural that, when The Bar splits up, Cesaro goes back to being a face while Sheamus reverts back to his heel ways. With these two singles competitors freed from the tag team division, just imagine the types of feuds and matches we could get.
We could see Cesaro mix it up in a hard hitting affair with Shinsuke Nakamura or overcome the odds against the behemoth of a man that is Samoa Joe. And, for Sheamus, we could see him reignite his rivalry with Daniel Bryan or go toe to toe with a newly turned babyface like Rusev.

The avenues and directions these two could go as singles competitors are limitless, but it seems like they’ve hit the end of the road as a tag team. It’s time break The Bar up, and maybe, just maybe, we can see Cesaro with the WWE Championship.
