Jim Ross Injured at NJPW G1 Special in San Francisco
WWE Hall of Famer, and legendary commentator, Jim Ross, was injured last Saturday during the NJPW G1 Special in San Francisco.
In a spot that saw Jay White suplexing Juice Robinson into the guardrail in front of the announce table, Jim Ross was knocked over as the guardrail pushed the table back. Ross fell to the floor of the arena, but was quickly helped up, and he resumed commentating for the rest of the night.
John Pollock has reported on Twitter that JR was at the ER having his rib looked at, as he was in a lot of pain.
Further details were released by PWInsider, who indicated that Ross was in pain on his flight home, and had difficultly loading his suitcase in the overhead bin. Ross is seeing a doctor today, and will undergo further assessment.
The spot was notable because it ended with Ross hitting the floor, and Josh Barnett, his broadcast partner, immediately stood up, and went after Jay White. Barnett has insisted that none of this was a work.
The segment certainly seemed off the cuff, but it didn’t seem out of place. Barnett not only manged to put more heat on Jay White by White refusing to fight, but he also gave time for Jim Ross to recover and return to commentary. Barnett stood up, entered the ring, and challenged Jay White to a fight. White refused, and Barnett said loudly into the camera that he was running away. The crowd ate up every second of it, and White was booed even more.

This only made the win by Juice Robinson more satisfying, as he defeated Jay White not long after to win the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. The fans popped huge for Juice’s win, and the intensity of the match went even higher after that moment.
