Report: WWE ‘Seriously Considering’ An All Women’s Main Roster Event

The WWE likes to brag about how it has started a revolution in women’s wrestling, even though this isn’t necessarily an accurate representation of their role in women’s wrestling. But there’s no denying that they’ve done more to advance equality in the sport (at least on the screen) over the past couple of years, and it seems like they are considering taking another step in that direction this fall.

Earlier this year, WWE held a Pay Per View in Saudi Arabia called The Greatest Royal Rumble, in which women’s wrestlers were unable to compete due to the Saudi Arabian government’s backwards beliefs.

The WWE Universe wasn’t able to watch some of its favorite wrestlers, such as Naomi or Sasha Banks, compete at the show, and many fans believed that WWE should have ran a separate all-women’s show during that time to make up for this.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE is “seriously considering” having this type of an all-women’s event for its main roster talent in the fall.

Hopefully the WWE Universe makes its voice heard on this issue and shows WWE that there is indeed MASSIVE interest in having an all-women’s Pay Per View or special event in the fall that is promoted heavily. The women’s division on both Raw and SmackDown is beyond stacked, with the likes of the IIconics and the Riott Squad emerging in 2018.

WWE has an all-women’s tournament scheduled earlier in the year, the second Mae Young Classic as a follow-up to last year’s extremely successful event, but they don’t have something like this for the main roster talent. Some WWE fans have even wondered if the company could create a show for the women, like with 205 Live, but that might make it harder for the women to appear on television and Pay Per Views.

Having an all-women’s event would be awesome, and it would be a smart business decision, to boot. It will be interesting to see if Pro Wrestling Sheet and other outlets obtain more information about WWE’s plans for this, and I’d love to see this become an annual extravaganza that celebrates women’s wrestling.
