WWE Raw Power Rankings: Drew McIntyre Scores Huge Win
By Bryan Heaton
8. Braun Strowman (last week: 4)
7. Kevin Owens (last week: 3)
Once again, Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens are inseparable when it comes to WWE Raw. At present, one cannot exist without the other, which is potentially a problem. It’s clear that both superstars are holding down the fort near the top of the card. But their unbreakable link is a symptom of the larger WWE storytelling problem, where two characters involved in a feud are seemingly unable to have anything to do with anyone else.
Just look at the paths of Owens and Strowman since Money in the Bank. In four episodes of Raw since MITB, Owens has teamed with Baron Corbin to defeat Strowman and Finn Bálor, Owens and Strowman teamed up to defeated Corbin and Bálor, there was the singles match that ended in the port-a-potty incident, and then this week’s backstage segments.
Clearly, Strowman and KO aren’t the only victims of this form of storytelling. Corbin and Baálor are in the same boat. To a certain extent, Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler are, too. Lower on the card, you have Ember Moon and Liv Morgan/The Riott Squad, and Mojo Rawley and No Way Jose.
Owens gets the slight nod here as “more powerful” simply because he’s actually acting like a human being. Strowman is still technically the same monster who flipped over an ambulance a little more than a year ago, but he’s gone too cartoony. And holding the Money in the Bank briefcase isn’t doing him any favors without a champion to challenge.
Plus, Owens got covered in blue diarrhea a week ago. I feel bad for the guy.
