Brock Lesnar reportedly confirmed to be working WWE Summerslam

After showing up at UFC 226, Brock Lesnar’s status for SummerSlam has been up in the air. Fan’s have been speculating more than ever about where he stands with the WWE. Thanks to Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer, we may finally have some answers.

Nothing and no one in wrestling right now is more controversial than Brock Lesnar. Fans are desperate for the Universal Champion to actually be seen on Raw. As a result, many have been more vocal than ever about their displeasure with The Beast Incarnate and his Championship reign.

Up until now, fans could rest assured that Lesnar would at least show up at WWE’s “big 4” PPVS (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and SummerSlam). Due to recent UFC-related developments, though, it seemed that he could actually miss The Biggest Party of the Summer this year. One of WWE’s main champions not working such an event would be unprecedented.

However, according to Dave Meltzer (via Ringside News) and a tweet from Bryan Alvarez, it seems to be confirmed that Lesnar will be defending his Universal Championship at the show after all. This will surely come as a relief to the droves of fans desperate for a new champion.

The match between Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns at Sunday’s Extreme Rules will likely determine a number one contender for Raw’s top prize. We may not find that out until Raw after Extreme Rules, though. Neither man is necessarily a fan favorite, but I don’t think there will be many complaints if either dethrones the perpetually absent Beast on August 19th.

WWE Creative could also go with a more fan friendly option like Seth Rollins, or Braun Strowman could announce his intentions to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase ahead of the show. Regardless of who it is, it seems like there’s a strong likelihood that Lesnar’s record breaking title reign could finally be coming to an end.
