On September 1, 2018, Daniel Bryan’s contract with WWE will expire, and both sides are working on hammering out a new contract that would keep the four-time world champion with the largest wrestling promotion. News regarding the progress made by both sides has been difficult to find, but Bryan recently stated that there’s a “good chance” he’ll remain with WWE.

Daniel Bryan made his in-ring return at WrestleMania 34, carrying an injured Shane McMahon to a victory against noted miscreants Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Watching Bryan fly around the ring with ease and sell like a maniac was an incredible sight, because just months ago, it seemed like we’d never get to experience those moments again.

There’s plenty of speculation regarding Bryan’s future with WWE, with The Wrestling Standard having reported that the company has different plans for Bryan based on whether or not he re-signs. They are said to be prepared for him leaving, but Bryan did apparently hire the representation John Cena uses in order to get a better contract.

Despite all the uncertainty, Bryan recently told The Business Times that there’s a “good chance” he’ll choose to re-sign with WWE, citing his wife Brie Bella’s role and the fact that he loves working there.

"“The wrestling world is an interesting world right now, but I love working with WWE and my wife (Brie Bella) is a part of WWE and so there’s a good chance I’ll re-sign.”"

Fightful.com has a list of confirmed wrestling contract expirations, and Bryan’s deal with WWE is scheduled to finish on September 1. This is also the date of “All In”, an independent wresting show in Chicago that is as ground-breaking as it is exciting. Rey Mysterio, Kazuchika Okada, and Britt Baker are among the names scheduled for the event, and many WWE fans have wondered if Bryan could join them.

WWE probably doesn’t want Bryan to show up at this event, seeing as how the Wrestling Observer News’s Dave Meltzer reported that the company is trying to prevent Mysterio from showing up there before signing a new contract. They also signed Deonna Purrazzo to a contract this summer, and she recused herself from “All In” shortly afterwards.

Although Bryan is not currently involved in a feud for the WWE Championship, he has been a focal point of SmackDown Live with some marquee victories and a SmackDown Tag Team Championship shot at Extreme Rules. He’ll be teaming up with his long-time friend and partner Kane to take on the Bludgeon Brothers in what should be an absolute banger of a tag match.
