2. Shinsuke Nakamura, United States Champion

Two constants at the top of these power rankings are Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles, with Nakamura producing such good heel work that it’s honestly rivaled The Miz’s in recent weeks. Nakamura is unapologetic, full of himself, and completely dismissive of everyone else.

Nakamura could hav easily lost the United States Championship if Randy Orton didn’t cost Jeff Hardy at the last second, but it still looks like we’re in for an awesome title run for Nakamura. He couldn’t capture the WWE Championship, but he’s already been brilliant as the US Champ. I’m also very much into Nakamura calling people “clowns” before low-blowing them.

1. AJ Styles, WWE Champion

You can easily make the argument that AJ Styles is a more dominant champion than Brock Lesnar because of all of his successful title defenses and non-title match wins. On the most recent episode of SmackDown Live, Styles added another big non-title victory to his resume by defeating Andrade “Cien” Almas, tapping him out to the Calf Crusher.

Styles’s arsenal of moves is as expansive and effective as anybody’s in WWE, and he isn’t afraid to mix up how he attacks his opponents. Against large, powerful opponents, he’ll give them a Phenomenal Forearm from out of the blue. Against naive opponents who underestimate his technical skill and body-part manipulation, he’ll simply submit them.

I can’t wait to see who Styles’s opponent at SummerSlam will be, and give a whole lot of credit to WWE for getting 100% behind him as the face of the Blue Brand.
