Kenny King vs. Shane Taylor vs. Chris Sabin vs. Jonathan Gresham

Sabin and Gresham started this one with some really great chain wrestling and an exchange of holds. People forget how great Chris Sabin is, and Gresham isn’t as well known, but both men had a great exchange of holds. Sabin and Gresham both tagged out, and Taylor and King seemed to have a temporary alliance as they were both members of The Rebellion. However, Taylor was having none of it, and he dropped King.

All four men got involved soon thereafter, and Shane Taylor hit a combination Samoan Drop and Fallaway Slam on Chris Sabin and Gresham. Taylor started to work over Gresham, to boos from the crowd. Gresham tried to fight back with chops, but Taylor was too big and strong for him. Taylor hit a big splash on Gresham, and Sabin broke up the pinfall.

Gresham locked on a sleeper hold on Taylor, and King and Sabin both broke it up. Gresham went right back to it, and the crowd exploded with cheers. Shane Taylor blocked a hurricanrana and hit a big powerbomb, but all the sleeper holds must have wore him down, because both men were left on the mat. Sabin and King started an exchange, with Sabin coming out on top with a big penalty kick.

King hit a big spinebuster on Sabin, and Sabin kicked out. King went for a Royal Flush, but Sabin sent him to the apron. Shane Taylor punched King in the mouth, and the ref counted it as a tag, which was awesome. Sabin hit an enziguri on Taylor, but was unable to pick Shane up. Sabin hit a Tornado DDT, and drove Taylor into the mat.

Gresham blind tagged Sabin and hit a series of high impact moves on Taylor, but Taylor kicked out at 1. Gresham locked on a sleeper hold again, but Taylor fought out into a fireman’s carry. Taylor caught Sabin again and went for the Samoan Drop/Fallaway Slam combo. King came flying into the ring, and he hit a neckbreaker on Gresham and sent all three men to the mat.

All four men exchanged a series of dives that ended with Shane Taylor hitting a cannonball off the apron onto King and Sabin. As Taylor was destroying Sabin and King, Gresham did a suicide dive, landed on King’s back, and locked in a sleeper hold! Holy crap, that was awesome. The referee was counting, and Taylor managed to get back into the ring. Taylor dropped back, trying to crush Gresham, but Gresham wouldn’t let go and he choked Taylor unconscious! What an awesome finish!

Result: Jonathan Gresham

Rating: 4.25 stars out of 5

This was such an excellent match. Gresham worked the sleeper hold on Taylor throughout the match, and the crowd got more into it every time he locked it on. They popped huge when he managed to choke Shane Taylor out. ROH has a future champion in Jonathan Gresham, and I think it’s time to move him up the card. I see Gresham as a future ROH World Champion.
