Longtime Impact Wrestling star Abyss has reportedly re-signed with the company. Abyss was last seen in action on Impact programming on March 22nd in a loss to Kongo Kong.

Today it was reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, as well as Wrestlezone.com, that Impact Wrestling veteran Abyss had signed a new deal with the company for an undisclosed amount of time.

Abyss has been signed to TNA/Impact since 2002, appearing for the company most notably as either Abyss or his “alter ego” of sorts, Joseph Park.

I have to say – if or when Abyss returns to Impact programming, I do hope they strictly stick with “Monster of Impact Wrestling” gimmick, because dear lord, there were many times even as recently as February where I watched the Joseph Park story lines on TV and thought, “This isn’t going to get any better, is it?”

I, at one point in time, sent the following clip to friends of mine who do not watch Impact, or wrestling at all, and asked them simply “Does this make you want to watch this show?” It was meant with a resounding, “Wait, I’m confused…”

I hope with Abyss’s return to Impact Wrestling that we just get Abyss. To me, the Kongo Kong and Jimmy Jacobs/Abyss feud would have been better served as just that. Coming off the heels of Slammiversary, and with the revival of Impact as a whole, I think staying away from the campy stuff will keep an air of seriousness that Impact is working towards.
