Night 9 saw the A block battling once again in what is the halfway point through the NJPW G1 tournament. This show was headlined by Kazuchika Okada battling YOSHI-HASHI.

A trademark in NJPW during the G1 is having tag matches previewing the other Block. Some Block B Tag matches kicked off the show:

Toa Henare and Shota Umino vs Yoh and Hirooki Goto:

Goto and Henare begin, with the power game by both wrestlers being shown off. Henare gets the advantage before some double-team action goes on between Henare and Umino. However, momentum quickly switches corners as it’s eventually Yoh and Goto making the frequent tags.

As the match continues, Umino gets a hot tag and a pretty cool spot happened, which ended with a Missile Dropkick from the top rope. The finish of the match happens, as a Falcon’s Arrow on Umino connects, but it doesn’t quite put him away. However the Boston Crab by Yoh forces Umino to tap out for the victory.

RESULT: Yoh and Hirooki Goto

RATING: 2.25 Stars

Guerrillas Of Destiny (Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga) vs Zack Sabre Jr. and Taka Michinoku:

Tanga Loa cuts the ring announcer short to allow him to introduce GOD himself, and I was intense! However, ZSJ and Michinoku attack to begin the match early.

Tanga Loa and Tama Michinoku are the 2 wrestlers legal. Loa manages to pick up the early advantage, and GOD manage frequent tags to take over this match and dominate proceedings.

As the match progresses, Zack Sabre Jr. manages to get some momentum back in his former, by manipulating the arm region with different submission moves. Tonga however escapes quickly. The match ends with a Suplex Pile-driver type move, as ZSJ was distracted for GOD to pick up the victory.

RESULT: Guerrillas Of Destiny (Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga)

RATING: 2.25 stars
