Impact Wrestling: In Search of Sienna

facebooktwitterreddit

Impact Wrestling recently removed the profile of Sienna to their alumni page. Is this the end for The Savage One and the re-energised promotion?

Sienna’s removal from the active roster page over at impactwrestling.com came as quite the surprise.

Having been absent from television for much of 2018 due to medical issues, the return of the artist, formally known as Allysin Kay, was top of many fans wish lists. Mine included. Have Impact Wrestling made a grave error?

Over at squarecirclesirens.com, Casey Michael reports that while on the shelf, Sienna’s contract expired, and she has yet to sign an extension or reach a new agreement:

Neither Impact nor Sienna have made an official statement on the situation, but Sienna has commented on her wide open schedule in 2018. While radio silence from both parties indicates that there maybe a deal to be made, the below points to that deal being a long way from being finalised (or even on the table).

A 10-year veteran and two-time Knockouts Champion, Sienna had a sterling first 2 years with the promotion. Debuting in 2016, Sienna attacked, fought and wrestled her way through the Knockouts roster. Sienna had notable rivalries with Gail Kim, Allie, Rosemary and Jade.

As good as Sienna was in those matches, it wasn’t her work rate that caught my eye, it was how she carries herself as a performer that made her stand out.

The consummate heel, Sienna never walked to the ring, she commanded the entrance ramp and strode with purpose. Trademark pinkies up and sporting her peacock boa, Sienna made it a point to scowl, berate and eviscerate the crowd. Heaven forbid, you’re actually a fan of The Savage One, Sienna was equally as brutal to her followers and their supportive signs.

On the mic, Sienna earned her reputation as a great talker wherever given the opportunity. Known to ‘roast’ opponents, Sienna would destroy opponents verbally before a blow was landed – her handling of Twitter trolls translated well to Sienna on the microphone. In their slow build feud, Allie was all the better in victory, due to the months of verbal battering that led up to their final confrontation. People were chomping at the bit to see Sienna take a, much deserved, beating.

In the ring, Sienna wrestles with power moves coupled with an MMA influence. Kay stands out because she refuses to be flashy. Sienna prefers to go fist-to-face, as opposed to the often acrobatic ballet that pro wrestling can be. It must help that Sienna has trained and competed in MMA contests as a side passion project. When Sienna steps into a ring, she is not a wrestler, she is a fighter. Sienna owns the squared circle.

Under the 2018 regime, Sienna never really got started. Suffering from two blood clots in her lungs, Sienna has not had the opportunity to shine for the Golden Bookers – a damn shame given her edgy, mean-AF attitude.

Don Callis and Scott D’Amore would do well to get The Savage One’s signature on a brand new contract. With the recent additions of Su Yung, Keira Hogan, Scarlett Bordeaux and, especially, Tessa Blanchard, the Knockouts roster is in fine form. There are a pool of quality opponents ready and raring to clash swords and this is where Sienna belongs.

As to future possibilities, Casey Michael (again of squarecirclesirens.com), uncovered some interesting follows from WWE announcer, Renee Young on her Twitter account. Renee, you may remember, was a commentator on last year’s Mae Young Classic. Amongst Renee’s newly followed wrestling talent , is none other than The Savage One. Sienna has a new fan! Make of that what you will, but Sienna could be taking a diversion to The Universe.

The master of the AK47. The Roaster of Idiots. The Verbally Violent Vixen. The blood soaked mats of Impact Wrestling would be a better place with Sienna busting heads.

Does her brand of savagery land in the Impact Zone, or does she navigate her way through The Universe?

Let’s see what happens.
