WWE SummerSlam 2018: Fantasy Booking Shane McMahon’s Return

The Commissioner of SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon, hasn’t been around lately, but he could return at SummerSlam.

It is no surprise that Shane McMahon has been off of TV ever since WrestleMania 34.

He was dealing with a multitude of injuries, including a hernia, heading into his match with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, so the time off is much needed for the Boy Wonder.

Besides, his handpicked GM of SmackDown Live has been killing it lately. Paige has filled the authority role perfectly by being impartial and allowing the talent to take center stage rather than hogging the spotlight for herself.

But, you have to think that the Commissioner of SmackDown Live is bound to show up eventually, and I think SummerSlam would be the perfect opportunity for Shane O’Mac to get back into the mix on the blue brand.

I don’t think Shane should have his own match on the card, but I would like to see him involved in the aftermath of arguably the biggest match of the night. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship could cause this McMahon to come out of hiding, and here is how:

AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe will be a clash for the ages. They are two of the best in the ring, and they will put on a great show, but the ending will see a bit of controversy. Samoa Joe will either lock in the Coquina Clutch or pin AJ Styles while AJ’s foot is on the rope.

The ref won’t see AJ’s foot and will say that Samoa Joe won the match. However, Paige, being the fair GM that she is, will come out and say that isn’t how the match will end and will call for the match to restart.

Joe, distracted, will be furiously yelling at Paige, and Styles will catch him off guard with a roll up to retain his WWE Championship. An absolutely irate Joe will then walk down the ramp backstage in pursuit of Paige.

Joe will find her and start yelling at her, and then it almost gets to the point where things get physical until Shane McMahon rushes in to stop what would have been a horrific scene. Shane tries to calm Joe down but instead becomes the recipient of Joe’s wrath.

Samoa Joe will beat Shane senseless and lock in the coquina clutch until a swarm of Superstars, security, and backstage personal are able to break Joe’s grip. Shane McMahon will then probably be escorted to a “nearby medical facility”.

This will put Samoa Joe looking strong and in a high profile feud without having to compete for the WWE Championship, while SmackDown Live and WWE 2K’s poster boy, AJ Styles, can continue his impressive reign with new challengers.

Can Styles Outlast Joe At SummerSlam?. dark. Next

Imagine the kind of chaos Joe will cause going up against an authority figure like Shane McMahon. Will it lead to a Hell in a Cell match? Maybe. Will it lead to a confrontation between Vince McMahon and Joe? I really hope so.
