AJ Styles is back on WWE SmackDown Live this week to address Samoa Joe. Can the WWE Champion get revenge? Here’s our predictions for this week’s SmackDown.
One thing that separates WWE SmackDown from Raw is the personal nature of the storylines. With few exceptions, Monday nights are all about a tangible prize at the end of a feud — championships, title opportunities, things like that. But the Blue Team features superstars fighting for pride, or family, or things more important than hardware.
Two of the biggest stories heading into SmackDown this week fit that bill. WWE Champion AJ Styles is back to address the actions and comments of Samoa Joe, who’s brought Styles’s family into their feud. And Daniel Bryan and The Miz have been tangled together for nearly a decade in a blood feud.
Without further ado, here are five predictions for this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
Aiden English Does It Again
One of the most depressing things SmackDown has been doing lately is the slow dissolution of the Rusev Day tag team. And on Rusev Day, no less! But Aiden English has perhaps been a bit overzealous of late, costing Rusev matches and running afoul of the Bulgarian Brute.
Lately, Rusev and Lana have been associating on-camera a bit more, leaving poor Aiden as the odd man out. And the arrival of Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega has given the married couple a brand new pair of rivals.
This week, in an effort to get back in the good graces of Rusev and Lana, I think Aiden English will somehow get the duo booked in a mix tag match for SummerSlam, against Almas and Vega. It’s logical, and it fits the storyline to do the match at all — but English making it happen could lead to more tension with Rusev.
