WWE SummerSlam: The Night Brock Lesnar Became A Beast
By Josh Raibick
2014 was the year that Brock Lesnar conquered The Undertaker’s WWE WrestleMania undefeated streak. Yet the most defining moment of Lesnar’s career might have come later that year at WWE SummerSlam 2014, when Lesnar would dominate John Cena in the main event and become arguably the most dominate force in WWE history.
Anyone who was expecting the rematch between Cena and Lesnar to be similar to the two superstars’ previous encounter at WWE Extreme Rules 2012 would be dead wrong. Why? For starters, Lesnar was a completely different animal compared to the man in 2012 who was just getting back on his feet after a life threatening bout with Diverticulitis and a technical knockout loss to Alistair Overeem.
Lesnar’s physique changed, and he began to look a lot more like the Lesnar from his first stint in WWE. Momentum was building for Lesnar as he was victorious in his 2013 feud with Triple H, and even more importantly was the first superstar to pin The Deadman’s shoulders to the mat on a WrestleMania Sunday.
Still the WrestleMania 30 match with The Undertaker was a back and forth affair with a legend that was no longer in his prime. The real challenge would be taking on the face of WWE, John Cena.
For a decade at this point, the WWE Universe had grown accustomed to Cena overcoming all odds. With the stakes being the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of the biggest pay per view of the summer it seemed as if Cena overcoming the odds one more time was a sure bet.
What would happen next would shock the WWE Universe to their core.
