The Aug. 13 edition of WWE Raw was the final chance for the red brand to gain momentum heading into the SummerSlam pay-per-view this coming Sunday.

Last night’s WWE Raw was the go-home show heading into the biggest party of the summer and it did a pretty solid job of giving the brand’s storylines a boost, especially with a return nearly a year in the making.

Things have become more interesting for the red brand and it has come at the perfect time with SummerSlam a mere days away.  With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Aug. 13 edition of WWE Raw.

5. Ruby Riott’s Return Comes At Great Time

The Riott Squad has been one of the most strangely-booked groups in a while in the WWE.  The trio had several months under its belt on SmackDown while never reaching its potential, but a move to Raw in the superstar shakeup seemed like it could get things on the right track.

And for a while, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan did begin to gain some traction on Monday nights.  But an injury to Ruby left the Riott Squad without a leader for a month or two.  Morgan and Logan tried to carry the load and they did do a decent job of it, but the group just didn’t feel the same without Riott involved.

In recent weeks, The Riott Squad has been battling Sasha Banks and Bayley, The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection.  Ruby’s return last week set up her first match on Raw in a while last night when she took on Banks in one-on-one action.  And after a pretty good match, all things considered, The Riott Squad’s numbers advantage paid dividends when Ruby surprised Banks to get the win.

This feud could really go somewhere now that the leader of The Riott Squad is back in the picture.  Ruby has proven that she is a valuable commodity in the WWE’s women’s division and her presence is needed for The Riott Squad to remain relevant on Monday nights.  Don’t be surprised to see this angle get a match on the kickoff show of SummerSlam this coming Sunday.

Ruby’s return comes at a great time for not only The Riott Squad, but for Banks and Bayley as well with both sides looking to gain momentum.
