After losing the triple threat match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship title at WWE SummerSlam 2018, Becky Lynch makes an unexpected heel turn, taking her frustration out on match winner and friend Charlotte Flair.

Anything goes at the biggest party of this summer, SummerSlam, and Becky Lynch proved that point.

After a number of qualifying matches, the SmackDown Women’s Championship title was scheduled to be up for grabs during a triple threat match at SummerSlam, featuring Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and the defender, Carmella.

Though it seemed just as likely that Carmella would retain, fans made it clear they wanted Becky Lynch to finally get another chance at a title reign. The last title reign Becky Lynch had was back in Sept. of 2016, when she grabbed the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Championship at Backlash. Becky held the title for less than three months, losing the title to Alexa Bliss at TLC in December.

Becky has not held a title since that reign, and fans are not happy. It seems Becky isn’t so happy, either.

After beating Becky and Carmella with a Natural Selection, Charlotte became the new holder of the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Becky, clearly upset and defeated, approached Charlotte, and embraced her old friend in a hug that was typical of the Face Becky fans know and love.

When the two pulled away from each other, however, Becky does the unexpected, and smacks Charlotte down to the mat with a hard blow. Becky snatched the title and raised it over her head, responding to a rowdy and uproarious audience full of fans that truly believe it’s Becky’s turn to shine.

Becky continued her heel-inspired tyrant, and tossed Charlotte over the barrier and over the announcer table, making the very clear statement that Becky refuses to stand on the sidelines, anymore.

Lynch left the arena to fan “You deserve it!” chants. It’s clear that the WWE Universe is ready for a very capable and talented Lynch to finally get her chance to take the division and championship to the next level. It appears that Becky is ready for the same, even if she has to take a heel turn.

Whether or not Heel Becky will be the new image of the Lass Kicker is something fans will have to wait until Tuesday to see. With the strong support of fans behind her, it’s hard to believe she could possibly turn bad.
