NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4 had plenty to live up to, as the 12 superstars involved were tasked with putting on a show that lived up to expectations. By the time the card was complete, there was no question that they had indeed put on a spectacle like no other.
With five matches on the card, including four title matches, the men and women of NXT delivered a show with non-stop action, exhilarating finishes and incredible storytelling. Luckily for me, I was able to take in all of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 live from the Barclays Center.
The crowd was ready to go from the moment the doors of the Barclays Center opened, with fans chanting their favorite catchphrases while hurrying to their seats. There was so much to look forward to later in the night with The Undisputed Era, Shayna Baszler and Tommaso Ciampa defending their titles, and Velveteen Dream and EC3 rounding out the card.
With plenty to digest, let’s get right into it, as I take a look at nine observations from watching NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4 live.
The Undisputed Era is Killing the Merchandise Game
When walking outside the arena, then inside the Barclays Center, it was incredible to see the many different t-shirts that fans were wearing in anticipation of NXT Takeover Brooklyn IV. The Golden Truth, Ronda Rousey, Rusev Day, and even the XFL were all represented throughout the arena, however, it was unquestionable that The Undisputed Era was represented the most.
Shock the System shirts had to have taken up at least 50% of the audience, with fans flocking to the concession stands to pick up their own black and yellow shirt.
Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish have become instant crowd favorites since they debuted a little over a year ago. They have changed the NXT landscape and, in the process, have become the faces of the brand.
It’s not only the shirts that people are holding on to. The catchphrases, particularly one from Mr. Adam Cole, have also taken over the WWE Universe.
From the minute the doors opened, up until the train ride home, Cole’s famous words were screamed by fans young and old. Whenever the time was right, which was most of the times, all you could hear was, “ADAM COLE! BAY BAY!”
