NXT TakeOver Brooklyn 4: Observations from Inside the Barclays Center
By Kyle Boris
Undisputed Era + Mustache Mountain = Fight Forever
These two teams have been at each other’s throats over the past couple of months and all of that culminated in Brooklyn with a show-opening match. The atmosphere was incredible throughout the entirety of the match, that was highlighted by insane displays of strength and pulse-stopping false finishes.
The team of Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong got off to a fast start, but Tyler Bate and Trent Seven were not going to go out without a fight. The match nearly last 30 minutes, but it never felt like it was going on that long. The action was non-stop with each superstar pulling out new moves that would get the fans on their feet in disbelief.
There were multiple times when I thought Mustache Mountain would reclaim the belts, only for Undisputed Era to find a way to not stay down for the three count.
The most exhilarating point in the match took place when Seven considered throwing in the towel to save his partner and friend. Seeing as how this had already happened in a previous encounter, it really felt like it was a possibility that this would happen once again. Seven had the audience on the edge of their seats and when he finally decided against throwing the towel in the ring, it was a truly uplifting moment that made you feel like this was Mustache Mountain’s moment.
In the end, it would be O’Reilly and Strong who would retain their titles, but it definitely felt like no one was walking away losers. The Undisputed Era would live to fight another day and had their moment to celebrate until…
War Raiders Come Out of Nowhere
Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong’s celebration quickly came to a halt when the War Raiders literally came out of nowhere and attacked the champions.
The two mammoth human beings were hiding under the ring for the entire match (insane, right?!) and hurried out before making a huge statement. Hanson and Rowe showed off their strength and agility in what was easily their most memorable moment since joining the NXT roster.
It’s amazing to think how much goes into a WWE production, as both men were able to sneak under the ring without a single person noticing.
