The Aug. 20 edition of WWE Raw was the followup to a hugely-successful SummerSlam pay-per-view just 24 hours earlier and the show wasted no time building on what the biggest party of the summer brought to the table.
The post-SummerSlam edition of WWE Raw saw the after-effects of the biggest party of the summer with developments regarding several key storylines, including the Universal Championship.
The red brand should be able to build on the momentum heading into Hell In A Cell next month. With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Aug. 20 edition of WWE Raw.
5. The Revival Must Win The Raw Tag Team Championship
The Raw tag team division has felt like more of an experiment than a legit division over the past few months. But even at that, some of the last minute, thrown together types of teams have begun to catch on and has found a groove, namely The B-Team.
Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel have been Raw Tag Team Champions since Extreme Rules and their gimmick as The B-Team has gotten over with the WWE universe. The way they win matches has told the story of their team to begin with quite nicely, but as of late, another hungry team has been nipping at their feet looking for a title shot.
The Revival came up just short at SummerSlam in capturing the Raw Tag Team Championship from The B-Team, but last night Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder got revenge of sorts on Dallas and Axel. It started as just one-on-one action between Dawson and Dallas, but after Dawson got the win, Axel called out Wilder for a match immediately as well.
And much like the match before it, The Revival got the momentum when Wilder beat Axel. These were just singles matches, but they should operate as the ammunition for another title shot for The Revival, a team that must win the Raw Tag Team Championship. There’s just no other way around it, Dawson and Wilder have to be the next Raw Tag Team Champions.
Their lack of direction has to end for good and The Revival have waited long enough to become the Raw Tag Team Champions.
