Impact Wrestling: It’s Only A Matter of Time Before Killer Kross Turns On Austin Aries
Viewers everywhere were shocked when, of all people, Killer Kross came to the aid of Impact Champion Austin Aries during his match against Eddie Edwards. It seems like Kross and Aries are a dangerous pair for now, but I have a feeling we shouldn’t get too used to seeing them on the same side.
It was unexpected to say the least – two weeks on Impact Wrestling towards the end of an Impact Championship match between champion Austin Aries and challenger Eddie Edwards, the notoriously cerebral Killer Kross arrived to lay out Edwards and help secure the win for Aries.
It makes some sense for the two to be aligned – Aries has been asserting himself as the pinnacle of the Impact roster since he returned with his “belt-collector” swagger. Our introduction to Killer Kross on the other hand was something else entirely. For weeks he eluded everyone in the Impact locker room as he laid out performers and staff alike, establishing himself as a truly cerebral competitor.
So, for me, the next logical question would be, “okay, so when is it going to come out that Killer Kross as been making Austin Aries believe their friends so he’s closer to the Impact Championship?”
Think about it – would you trust a guy who spent weeks attacking innocent people to purposely strike fear in the hearts of even the backstage staff at Impact? Not only is this guy crazy, but he’s ruthless too.
It’s only a matter of time before Killer Kross’ true motivations come to light – he’s gunning for Austin Aries Impact Championship, and the closer he gets to it, the better.
To be honest, I feel that even though Kross is newer to the roster, giving him a run at the Impact Championship would be really interesting creatively. Austin Aries has obviously been pulling heel duty since he’s been back to Impact, and a feud with arguably a bigger heel may be an opportunity to revamp Aries’s character. It may even be reason enough for for Aries to garner some sympathy from the rest of the roster, but that may be a stretch.
The real question or uncertainty surrounding this is when this turn is going to happen. You have to believe Kross is waiting for “the right time to strike”, but it’s hard to gauge when exactly he thinks that’s going to be. Should we expect Kross to be Aries’s immediate opponent after he’s done with Eddie Edwards, or she would expect Kross to stick around in Aries’s camp for a little longer, to let Aries really believe Kross is his ally only to double-Kross (I’m so sorry) Aries?
I personally think milking this partnership for a while leading into Kross betraying Aries at Bound For Glory, maybe even leading into a match at between the two at Bound For Glory, would be a good way to give this eventual feud a lot of energy. Regardless, I’m sure we’ll see the extents of Kross’s deceit making themselves clearer to us in the weeks to come.
