The history of the women’s division in the WWE has been an interesting one to say the least. For several years, it wasn’t easy being a female competitor in WWE.

Over the course of WWE history, they were often treated as nothing more than eye candy. Even when the women’s division got past that, they rarely got the time to showcase their in-ring talent. Things hit a crossroads on the February 23rd, 2015 episode of Raw after a tag team match between The Bella Twins and Paige/Emma lasted a mere 30 seconds. At a time when female competitors were having long lasting modern classics in NXT, the WWE Universe had finally had enough.

After the hashtag #GiveDivasAChance trended on Twitter for three days straight, Vince McMahon would try to assure the masses by stating “We hear you. Keep watching.” From there, more steps were taken to assure that women would get the chances they deserve. In due time, women received longer matches, spots in the main event, and finally shed the dreaded Divas moniker from their division.

For the last few years since the women’s rebranding, the women have been passing milestone after milestone, and on October 28th, they hope to do it again with the first all women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution. If you ask some fans, stuff like this for the women’s division is long overdue.

Long before even the height of women’s wrestling in NXT, WWE were showcasing some of the best women’s wrestling on Raw. This was demonstrated in some of the best women’s feuds that have taken place in the company. In anticipation for WWE Evolution, we are counting down some of the best women’s rivalries in WWE history.
