Roman Reigns finally overcame Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam to become WWE Raw’s Universal Champion. After a scintillating first title defense against Finn Balor on the episode of Raw after SummerSlam, who could be Reigns’s next five challengers?

There is no doubt that Roman Reigns is one of the best wrestlers in WWE today, and he’s been a standout on just about every episode of Raw this year. His Intercontinental Champion matches with The Miz, Triple Threat qualifying matches, battles with Bobby Lashley, and title defense against Finn Balor last week are among the best WWE Raw matches of 2018.

Reigns will never be loved by a segment of the WWE Universe, but as long as he continues to generate reactions, put on great matches, and push merchandise, he will remain the central figure of Monday Night Raw. He’s earned it, but all the accolades have put a target on his back.

Everyone wants a piece of Reigns and that Universal Championship, partially because it is now in the hands of an actual, fighting champion. In a kayfabe sense, everyone in that locker room knows that the title is there for the taking, and while it would take a monumental effort to defeat Reigns, the likes of Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Lashley, and Finn have shown that it is possible.

Here are five wrestlers who could potentially challenge for the Universal Championship next.
