The Aug. 27 edition of WWE Raw was a crucial show for the red brand with several noteworthy moments taking place with Hell In A Cell just under three weeks away.
Last night’s edition of WWE Raw was an overall solid show that saw a lot of important moments taking place, including a few key Hell In A Cell pay-per-view developments.
The storyline momentum continues to build on Monday nights and last night was key to accomplishing that. With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Aug. 27 edition of WWE Raw.
5. Baron Corbin vs. Finn Balor Doesn’t Need To Happen Again
There are just certain feuds that often times carry on too long and they really don’t need to do so. One of those feuds is Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin, a random program between two underutilized superstars on the Raw roster that just keeps going on.
Corbin has found a career resurgence of sorts as Stephanie McMahon’s hand-picked constable of Raw, but it hasn’t led to much outside of a heelish authority figure. It has led to several different matches with Balor, most of which have gone in Balor’s favor including their SummerSlam match that saw the unexpected return of The Demon gimmick.
Constable Corbin wasn’t going to take that lying down and he ordered a rematch with Balor the man last night that he had a week to prepare for, but Balor only had a few minutes to prepare for. The two put on a pretty solid match, but the finish just felt ridiculous in all honesty. Corbin got frustrated and hit Balor with a chair, causing the disqualification. But as the acting GM of Raw, he made a revision.
The match was restarted as a no disqualification match and after a few more chair shots coupled with an end of days, Corbin beat Balor. The time has come for this feud to just end, there’s no other way around it. Nobody really cares about it and very few cared when it started. They’ve had too many matches as of late and both men need to go onto something different.
You can only go back to the well so many times and the red brand needs to stop pitting Corbin and Balor against each other.
