WWE NXT Results, Highlights, And Grades: Champions Collide
By Liam Hoofe
Dakota Kai Vs Aliyah
Result: Dakota Kai wins with a flipping backbreaker
Grade: C-
Dakota Kai and Aliyah were up in the night’s opening match in what was a very average encounter.
Kai is slowly becoming one of the most popular babyfaces on the NXT roster, and the win here helped give her some momentum after her program with Shayna Baszler a few months back.
Aliyah did what she had to do, but she is kind of in no-man’s land at the moment. Kai’s finisher is always impressive, and I love the fact that NXT now has a female referee.
Aleister Black Scandal/ EC3 Attack
After the match, we cut to William Regal interviewing the aptly named, Forgotten Sons about attacking Aleister Black. The group insist that they had nothing to do with the attack and Regal says that he will put them in a match next week.
We then cut to EC3, who has been attacked backstage before his scheduled match with Raul Mendoza. This will presumably set up his next match at Takeover: WarGames II, and will also probably play into the Aleister Black storyline.
We then cut back to Regal, who is now interviewing Nikki Cross. Cross is playing crazy during the interview and giving away no information. Bianca Belair walks in and Nikki Cross asks her if she wants to play. Regal sets up a match between the two for next week.
