Neville vs. Tyson Kidd vs. Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze – NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way: 9.11.14

NXT continues to excel with some of the best laid out and delivered matches. The periodic TakeOver events provide some of the best wrestling content available; frequently outperforming the major WWE PPVs that occur just a day later. This trend can be traced back to NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way and the main event that featured an exceptional four-way match between Neville, Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze.

All too often it feels like multi-man matches are thrown together to get a big pop for major names in the same ring and multiple high spots. Storyline is thrown out to the wayside in lieu of a big crowd reaction.

That wasn’t the case with the main event at NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way. Each man came into this match with their own story and something to prove. Neville was the dominant champion, looking to hold onto his title.

Zayn was looking for his moment to finally claim the NXT belt. Kidd was the veteran, out to keep the young talent in their place. And Breeze was the consummate heel who slipped his way into the title picture. Giving each man their own storyline added an element to this match that is often missing when multiple characters are vying for the same title.

Then, there’s the action in the ring. From bell to bell, these four competitors gave fans a match that would keep them out of their seats. It was the perfect mix of high spots, technical action, near falls and the perfect finish.

Neville stooped to some under handed tactics to get the win, but it was done in a fashion that led perfectly into his next title match against Zayn; where he would eventually drop the title. But before that would occur, Tyler Breeze, Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn and Neville delivered one of the best matches that NXT has seen, even to this day.
