Joe DiMaggio got a hit in 56 straight baseball games. The UCLA Men’s Basketball team won 88 consecutive games at one point. Rafael Nadal once won 81 games in a row on clay courts. As of this writing, Curt Hawkins has lost 219 consecutive wrestling matches. The first three streaks all eventually came to an end, so that begs the question: Who Will Curt Hawkins Beat to End His Losing Streak?

Curt Hawkins’ streak has been miraculously going on for somewhere around two years now. Some of these losses occurred on WWE Live Events, while others happened on Raw or Smackdown. No one really knows when the former WWE Tag Team Champion will return to the winning side of things, but it could be fun to try and figure out who he’ll actually defeat to end the streak.

Shea Serrano is not only one of my favorite Twitter follows, but also one of the more creative writers I know. In his book, Basketball (and Other Things): A Collection of Questions Asked, Answered, Illustrated, he uses a unique strategy to figure out the “Most Perfect Duo in NBA History.”

This is just one of many questions he attempts to answer throughout the book, but I decided to point out this chapter, because it has given me inspiration to try and figure out who Curt Hawkins will end his losing streak against.

In the aforementioned chapter, Serrano starts with 25 different NBA duos and gradually eliminates some based on certain criteria until there is only one duo remaining. I’ll attempt to do this with all of Hawkins’ potential opponents until just one man is remaining. This man who will have the “honor” of losing to the man with the longest losing streak in wrestling today.

Trying to figure out who Hawkins will finally get a win against will be no easy task, but someone has to do it. Before we get started, let’s try and eliminate some wrestlers that we won’t be including. We’ll assume he won’t beat a women’s wrestler, a member of the 205 Live or UK rosters or anyone from the announce teams. There really wouldn’t be an opportunity for Hawkins to face off against someone from one of those categories, unless of course there’s a memorable women’s battle royal that a man could sneak into and win.

We WILL include some members of the NXT roster because there’s a chance that they could eventually get called up while the losing streak is still alive. Ultimately, that leaves us with 45 superstars currently on RAW, 33 on Smackdown Live, and 24 from NXT  for a total of 102 potential losers. Let’s begin to shrink this list in order to figure out how Hawkins will end his streak.

1.) Superstars Who Only Fight in Tag Team Matches

We’ll assume for this list that Hawkins will get his win in a single’s match. With the streak continuing to grow, a win in tag team match wouldn’t have as much meaning as a clear pin fall in a single’s match. Perhaps down the road, Hawkins will find a partner for a tag team match, but either way, I don’t think he’d get the pinfall against a traditional tag team.

Some members of teams will remain in the running such as Luke Harper who has had a run on his own, while Erik Rowan will not make the cut. For this round, we’ll be losing The Revival, The Authors of Pain, The Singh Brothers, The Ascension, Erik Rowan, The Colons, Gallows & Anderson, The B Team, The Usos, Alexander Wolfe, Heavy Machinery, The Mighty, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, Street Profits, and The War Raiders.

That leaves us with just 74 superstars remaining, while 26 men have avoided a potential loss against Curt Hawkins.
