The Sept. 10 edition of WWE Raw was the final chance for the red brand to showcase itself and build momentum heading into this Sunday’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

Last night’s WWE Raw was a bit of a strange show at times that lacked in many standout moments, but it did serve up a few noteworthy moments heading into Hell In A Cell this coming Sunday.

There are several things the red brand still has to work out, but things are in a good enough position as a whole.  Let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Sept. 10 edition of WWE Raw.

5. The Authors Of Pain Need Some Legitimate Direction

An NXT tag team that had people buzzing not long ago was The Authors Of Pain.  Akam and Rezar blazed an impressive trail throughout their time in NXT and many felt a move to the main roster would continue that trend, however, that hasn’t rung true yet.

AOP has been in meaningless squash match after meaningless squash match over the past few months with no end in sight.  The only thing the team has done of any sort of significance has been a lackluster “feud” with Titus Worldwide.  But over the past couple weeks, AOP has gotten a new dimension with the addition of 205 Live GM Drake Maverick as the team’s manager.

Whether the idea will work out is anyone’s guess, but Maverick is a charismatic individual that could provide Akam and Rezar a spark they need.  Last night, however, saw more of the same when they squashed two local competitors in no time.  The question remains, when will AOP finally find some serious creative direction?

Akam and Rezar need something legitimate to do, there’s just no other way around it.  It’s been far too long on the main roster and there have been far too many squash matches in that timeframe.  They need a legitimate creative direction, especially now that Maverick is in their corner and could provide a big spark to the team.

The only thing AOP has been authors of lately has been squashes and the creative team needs to change that quickly because the WWE is wasting AOP’s chances of climbing up the tag team ladder on Monday nights.
