NJPW Destruction in Hiroshima Results, Grades, and Analysis
CHAOS (Gedo, Toru Yano, & Hirooki Goto) vs. Suzuki-gun (Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Takashi Iizuka, & Taichi)
Suzuki-gun started this taking it to everyone right away with their questionable offence. Iizuka is wearing a mask over his mouth now that is supposed to prevent him from biting his opponents, which is actually a neat touch. Taichi grabbed Goto’s title and put it in his corner, using it as a distraction to team Gedo behind the referee’s back. Taichi took the muzzle off Iizuka, and he immediately started trying to eat Gedo.
That’s not a good way to keep getting booked, Iizuka. If you eat the booker, he can’t book you. Iizuka continued to bite everyone. Iizuka tried to bite the referee, but Gedo pulled him off with some cheating of his own. Goto got tagged in, and he was busted open somewhere in the match. Goto hit a Saito suplex on Taichi, but Taichi kicked out. Taichi botched dodging a kick from Goto, so he just no sold it, and hit an enziguri. Yikes. Taichi hit an awful buzzsaw kick on Goto.
Taichi, you’re not making your argument for a singles run look any good at all. Goto came in, hit a suplex on Kanemaru, and followed it up with a GTR. Taichi came in and kicked the referee in the face, breaking the pinfall. Taichi then beat on Goto with the mic stand. CHAOS won via disqualification.
Result: CHAOS via DQ.
Rating: **1/4 (2.25 stars out of 5)
After the match, Taichi continued the beat down and hit a last ride powerbomb on Goto. Look, Taichi sucks. Plain and simple. He’s no good in the ring. He botched dodging a kick. Goto better win their title match. Taichi manages to take what could be a good match and drag it down to less than average.
