WWE SmackDown Live Preview: AJ Styles and Samoa Sign A Contract for Super Show-Down

This Tuesday on SmackDown Live, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe will be in the same ring to sign a contract for their harrowing match at Super Showdown. Tye Dillinger gets a United States Championship opportunity, we’ll see New Day’s Big E go one-on-one with The Bar’s Sheamus, and Rusev will hopefully get some well-deserved answers from Aiden English.

SmackDown Live General Manager Paige announced that this Tuesday on SmackDown Live, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe will be signing their contract for their “No Disqualification, No Count-Out, Must Be A Winner” (there must be simpler ways to put this) match at Super Show-Down. This feud has lit up SmackDown Live for the passed couple of months, and the animosity between these two performers seems to grow every time they’re in the ring together.

Even if it is just to sign a piece of paper, you can bet things will become very heated for Styles and Samoa when they share the ring tonight.

Tonight we also all get a lesson on the power of social media. Underutilized during his stay on WWE’s main roster, former NXT fan favorite Tye Dillinger found out that all it takes to get yourself a United Stated Championship match against Shinsuke Nakamura is to “at” him on Twitter.

Shinsuke Nakamura in his own right has been underutilized since he’s debuted on Smackdown, and though it’s nice to see WWE at least trying to make Shinsuke’s United States Championship seem relevant. That said, however, WWE has failed to make Shinsuke’s tenure with the championship result in any worth-while feud. While the quantity of matches is nice, we’re really waiting for the quality here.

The biggest question that needs answering on tonight’s SmackDown Live, of course, is, “why, Aiden, why?” Fan-favorites and the most unlikeliest of tag teams, Rusev Day has officially been cancelled, gone forever after a surprise attack on Rusev from Aiden English after Rusev’s United States Championship match with Shinsuke Nakamura.

We knew there were seeds of dissent sown between English and Rusev’s wife Lana, but apparently things ran deeper for English then he let on. Tonight, Rusev will be looking for answers from English, but in all honestly I wouldn’t expect to actually get them.

One thing English has gotten very good at is hiding his true intentions, so even if we do see real discourse between English and Rusev, you can’t believe that everything English says will be true. I just hope this break-up proves worthwhile. Otherwise, WWE would have lost out on Tag-Team Goals for a month-long feud.

Big E will throw etiquette out the window tonight when he goes one-on-one against Sheamus. Last week saw Cesaro get the win over Koft Kingston, so New Day will be looking to even the playing field against The Bar.
