The Oct. 1 edition of Raw wasn’t a very compelling show in all honesty, but it did feature a few noteworthy moments that made the show at least respectable, including a finish filled with nostalgic fireworks.
The first WWE Raw of October focused a bit too heavily on the situation between The Shield and Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre, but a few other moments spread throughout the show helped spruce things up a bit.
Super Show-Down is less than a week away and the red brand will have several key matches on the card. Let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Oct. 1 edition of Raw.
5. Elias And Kevin Owens Work Perfectly Together
Two of the most entertaining characters in the WWE have to be Elias and Kevin Owens. Both men have had fair enough success in the WWE in the past, especially Owens, but as of late, they have been working together against a common enemy.
KO hasn’t done much since his feud with Braun Strowman ended at SummerSlam, but he has a new purpose thanks to Elias. The two have been together over the past few weeks and that will remain the same at Super Show-Down when they team up to battle Bobby Lashley and the returning John Cena. Last night was the duo’s most entertaining night so far.
Owens was set to battle Lashley, but before the match took place, Elias and KO had a few words for the live crowd in Seattle. In one of the best examples of getting heat the WWE has seen in a long time, Ellias took a jab at Seattle losing its pro basketball team to Oklahoma City, and the crowd erupted in boos for several minutes straight.
It was almost unbelievable to see how long this lasted and of course, Elias and Owens kept going at them the entire time. It was simply marvelous to see a crowd get so worked up at a couple of heels because it just doesn’t happen very often anymore. Not to mention, Owens won the match with Lashley to gain momentum heading into Super Show-Down.
Match aside, KO and Elias together have been a great duo so far and last night only further backs that up with some of the best heel heat seen in a long time.
