8. Edge Cashes In Money In The Bank On The Undertaker: May 11, 2007

The Money in the Bank concept took the WWE by storm in 2005 with the first Money in the Bank ladder match taking place at WrestleMania 21.  Edge was the inaugural winner of the match and only two years after his first win, lightning struck twice.

Mr. Kennedy won the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 23 in 2007, but due to an injury, he was forced to drop the briefcase to Edge.  The Undertaker was World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Batista at WrestleMania 23, but a rivalry with Edge over the next year or so would dominate the blue brand’s main event scene.

Taker took part in a hellacious steel cage match with Batista on the May 11, 2007 edition of SmackDown and after retaining his title via a draw, Mark Henry attacked The Deadman after the match.  This attack would lead to Edge once again living up to his moniker as The Ultimate Opportunist.

The Rated-R Superstar picked the bones of The Undertaker and after a big spear, Edge won the World Heavyweight Championship.  This was a dramatic moment that fans of the blue brand won’t forget and it further cemented Edge as a top heel in the WWE.

The Ultimate Opportunist took full advantage of his opportunity to become the new World Heavyweight Champion on this night.
