The fourth episode of WWE Mixed Match Challenge Season 2 was live from Indianapolis on Tuesday night. It featured pivotal matchups between fan favorite teams in both divisions…

Ember Moon & Braun Strowman vs Bayley & Finn Balor

Ember and Bayley kick things off. They lock up and jockey for position. They trade shoulder blocks and Bayley gets the advantage with a sliding lariat. Moon backs off and Strowman and Balor get tags. “GET THESE HAND” chants cause the Monster Among Men is still mega over. Finn starts chopping down the tree and using his speed to stay level with Braun. The women rush each other and Bayley hits a Balor-assisted rana. Balor runs the ropes but his opponent catches him and starts the beatdown. Strowman dominates for a while, but eventually Balor escapes and is able to make the hot tag to Bayley.

Cotheslines and a rope hung cutter but Ember fights back with big power offense and a springboard crossbody for a near fall. Bayley fights back, but it isn’t enough and Moon goes up for the Eclipse. Bayley knocks her off the turnbuckle and hits the Bayley to Belly but Strowman makes the save and the men enter the match. Finn’s still hurting, but he’s able to make the big man miss. One Coup de Grace connects and Balor attempts a second. Strowman gets out of the way as Ember and Bayley take each other out and the powerslam ends it.

Monster Eclipse def Team B’N’B

This was probably the most straightforward match of Mixed Match Challenge season 2 yet; a simple David vs Goliath story told via ten minutes of solid tag team wrestling action. Everyone played their roles well. Finn and Bayley showed heart and determination fighting from behind the majority of the match against much more powerful opponents, while Braun and Ember were dominant without completely no selling and burying the efforts of Team B’N’B. On the negative side, I’m a bit frustrated that Strowman has had to save his partner in both of their matches so far. It makes Moon seem somewhat incapable, which is just silly and unnecessary.

In general I enjoy more lighthearted fun out of MMC matches, but this worked well overall and delivered a refreshing, more serious change of pace.
