Report: Willie Mack Will Be A ‘Regular’ On Impact Wrestling
A tag team match pitting Rich Swann and Willie Mack against Matt Sydal and Ethan Page opened Impact Wrestling’s “Bound For Glory” Pay Per View last week, and Mack will reportedly be a regular part of Impact’s programming after being one of the show’s standouts.
A two-time Lucha Underground Trios Champion, Willie Mack has risen from being one of the best wrestlers in the southern California scene to being one of wrestling’s most exciting talents on a more global scale. At Bound For Glory, Mack, who recently fought Cody Rhodes for the NWA Worlds Title, made his first appearance with Impact Wrestling, joining forces with Rich Swann to take on Matt Sydal and Ethan Page in tag action.
Those four men put on a show to start Bound For Glory, and nobody shined more brightly than Mack. Fans unfamiliar with his previous work were amazed by how agile he is for his size. Mack may have been in the ring with two of the most exciting wrestlers in the world in Swann and Sydal, but he found a way to outshine those two with his natural ability and charisma.
According to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, Mack will be a “regular” on Impact’s programming going forward, which could come as great news to fans who watched him at Bound For Glory. He looked like a wrestler who can be a star in Impact if given regular time, and he benefits greatly from being given more freedom to showcase himself both in the ring and on the mic.
Mack’s ability to salvage a promo meant to advertise Impact’s sponsor for BFG, COMDA.com, may have been nearly as commendable as his performance in between the ropes.
Impact Wrestling has reportedly signed Jordynne Grace, one of the brightest young stars in wrestling, to a two-year deal, so the news that they will feature Willie Mack regularly is yet another boost for the promotion. The big story in Impact has been Austin Aries, but it’s just as important to put the focus on Grace and Mack, who are two talents that can help add depth to Impact. That depth was sorely missed in the build to Bound For Glory.
Furthermore, it is great to see that Impact is in a position where they can add/feature talents like Grace and Mack going forward. This says more about where Impact could be headed in the future than anything else.
Mack is the current (and first) House of Hardcore Twitch Television Champion and the RPW Undisputed Champion. We’ll see how Impact utilizes him over the next few months, because they should be high on his mic work after trusting him with hyping up their sponsor on his BFG appearance. He could be a great opponent for Brian Cage’s X Division Championship.
