Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss Return From Injuries At Live Event

Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss had both been out of in-ring action for over a month due to injury, but the WWE Raw superstars returned to wrestle at a Live Event in Bangor, Maine on Oct. 19.

There is no doubt that Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss are two of WWE Raw’s “glue” superstars, and the show just didn’t feel the same without Banks’s presence for well over a month.

After teaming up with Bayley to defeat Ember Moon and Dana Brooke on Sept. 3, Banks didn’t appear until the most recent episode of Raw, Oct. 15. She was pulled from the WWE Mixed Match Challenge 2, with Mickie James replacing her as Bobby Lashley’s partner.

Both Bliss and Banks returned from injury to wrestle at a WWE Live Event in Bangor, Maine on Oct. 19. WWE tweeted about Banks “returning” to New England (she’s billed from the Boston area and first made a name for herself in wrestling in the region).

Bliss teamed up with Mickie James to face Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax, while Banks, Bayley, and Brooke defeated the Riott Squad.

Banks’s absence wasn’t explained by WWE, but Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin reported that she was suffering from a back injury (she’s had back issues before). Satin had trouble confirming the news, and it isn’t surprising that WWE was tight-lipped on her status.

Although Banks appeared on Raw this past week, she didn’t wrestle. Natalya put her over big-time as a centerpiece in the women’s division. It’s a pretty cool video.

As of right now, Sasha does not have a match set for WWE Evolution, but Bliss will be involved in a hyped matchup against Lita and Trish Stratus with Mickie James as her partner. Initially announced as a singles match, this tag match between Lita/Trish and Mickie/Alexa figures to be even more entertaining given the personalities involved.

Bliss hasn’t wrestled since Hell in a Cell on Sept. 16, when she lost her rematch for Ronda Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship in what proved to be a solid match that exceeded expectations.

Alexa, per PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, suffered an arm injury in that match, but she did continue to make television appearances to promote her big Evolution bout. That said, Bliss was also pulled from the Mixed Match Challenge 2, breaking up “Team Little Big” with Braun Strowman (though Ember Moon’s excellent work has softened the blow for fans).

It’s great to hear that both Banks and Bliss are back in the ring, and hopefully they are healed up from their injuries. Wrestlers are always in pain, but it’s good to see they are at least cleared to do what they love the most. It will be exciting to see Bliss at Evolution, and we can only cross our fingers and hope that Banks will also have a big match at the all-women’s PPV.
