WWE is currently airing six wrestling shows per week with the Mae Young Classic 2 ongoing, so there’s no shortage of great matches to choose from when constructing a weekly top five. On this particular week, Toni Storm managed to make her mark twice.

Wednesdays are the best day of the week for wrestling fans right now. At 3 p.m. ET, WWE’s NXT United Kingdom brand airs, and the debut episode was filled with great action, as you can see by this list of the top five matches of the week.

Later in the day from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, 205 Live, NXT, and the exemplary Mae Young Classic 2 tournament close out the week of WWE’s regular programming.

Raw and SmackDown Live are the centerpieces of WWE’s programming, but the Network-exclusive shows have always managed to shine on a different level. 205 and NXT regularly have the best matches of the week, and with the likes of Toni Storm and Pete Dunne leading the way in the United Kingdom division, NXT UK will regularly feature on this list.

Honorable mentions go to Rey Mysterio vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler, Nikki Cross vs. Bianca Belair, Deonna Purrazzo vs. Io Shirai, and Lacey Lane vs. Meiko Satomura (read more about the story-telling in that match here).

These five matches were all solid, but they just missed the cut. The fact that I have five honorable mentions is a testament to WWE’s match quality right now, because I could have easily made a “top ten” for WWE’s best matches this week.
