WWE Royal Rumble 2019: 5 Early Candidates To Win Women’s Rumble
Shayna Baszler
A former NXT Champion, Shayna Baszler will get her rematch against her nemesis, Kairi Sane, at Evolution. Although it’s possible for Baszler to win the title back, that seems unlikely, and it also seems like “The Queen of Spades” has done everything there is to accomplish in NXT after running the division before Sane stood up to her at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV.
Baszler’s main roster call-up is an inevitability at this point, and by the time the Women’s Rumble rolls around in late January, Four Horsewomen stablemates Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir may be ready to contribute more and more. That could mean that they play a role in Baszler winning the Rumble, joining Asuka as the first two winners of the prestigious battle royal.
There’s plenty of history between Baszler and Rousey, and they could produce an exceptional feud at WrestleMania. In the case someone like Banks or Lynch, it would be harder for Rousey to come off as the babyface against them, because Banks and Lynch are so well-liked and have earned the audience’s utmost respect over the years.
Meanwhile, Baszler is one of the best heels in WWE, and she was so brilliant as an antagonist in feuds with Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, Dakota Kai, and Kairi Sane. Baszler is the perfect foil for Rousey, and the two could put on a devastating match that is heavy on the strikes and submission. It would be a classic fight, and few wrestlers have been as good at telling classic heel/face stories as Baszler this year.
