The Oct. 22 edition of WWE Raw was one of the most shocking and emotional Raw’s in a long time with an announcement that has shaken the WWE to its very core.
Last night’s WWE Raw caught everybody by surprise with the stunning announcement made by Roman Reigns to kick off the show. The show did go on, however, and offered up some quality TV along with another shocking development.
The complexion of Monday nights has been changed moving forward and that carries over into Crown Jewel as well. With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Oct. 22 edition of WWE Raw.
5. The Riott Squad Needs A Win At Evolution
We are less than a week away until the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view in WWE history, Evolution. Women of the past, present, and future of this business will take part in the event and this showcase gives underutilized women a chance to shine as well.
One example of this will be The Riott Squad’s six-woman tag team match at Evolution against three big names. Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan will battle Natalya, Sasha Banks, and Bayley at Evolution and it gives these six women a chance to shine, especially The Riott Squad who could capitalize on a marquee win.
Last night saw a brief preview of this match when Banks took on Ruby Riott in one-on-one action. This would turn out to be a pretty solid match as these two have proven they are more than capable of doing. Confusion started taking shape at the end and that was all the edge Ruby needed to catch Banks by surprise and get the win.
Can The Riott Squad get the big win at Evolution, though? That’s the question at hand. It seems like these three women are just there to put babyfaces over and that needs to change. If the WWE will ever be serious about them, they need a win at Evolution on a big platform. Too many times in the past they have lost matches they should have won.
The Riott Squad could develop into a major team on Monday nights, but winning will be required sooner than later.
