WWE: Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch Should Main-Event Survivor Series

For this year’s WWE Survivor Series, the two stars with the most momentum going into Sunday are The Baddest Woman on the Planent and The Man, Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch, so why shouldn’t they main-event?

As it has been for the last couple of years now, the big theme for Survivor Series is Raw vs SmackDown. For this year’s event, the first match that WWE officially announced for the show was announced immediately following their WWE Evolution event – SmackDown Women’s Champ Becky Lynch would face Raw Women’s Champ Ronda Rousey.

Since then, the two champs have been having a war of words with each other, one cutting scathing promos on the other on their respective show. The way their feud has been boiling over these past few weeks, WWE might as well give their match the main event spot. In all fairness, it’s the most main-event-worthy match on the Survivor Series card right now.

There are two specific qualities that makes a match main-event material: the main event has the biggest hype and build-up, and the main event is a match people are dying to see.

Lynch vs Rousey certainly has the most hype around it right now. As the first match to be announced for the show, it naturally has had the most build-up. The funny thing is that WWE hasn’t done too much for the build-up; they didn’t have to, as Rousey and Lynch took it upon themselves on social media.

As of this writing, nobody’s jumped ship to the other show to beat the other woman up. All either champ has done is address the other during a promo on their show, and had a few sick burns exchanged through Twitter.

That really goes to show just how badly fans are clamoring to see this match-up without either party needing to touch or share a ring beforehand. We could say that’s just because this is a first-time-ever contest, but so is Nakamura vs Rollins, and that hasn’t gotten over nearly in the same way as Rousey vs Lynch has.

There is something about the personalities of Rousey and Lynch that make fans want to see them wrestle, beyond just because of their in-ring talent.

It helps that both Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch are two of the most over competitors on the WWE roster. As a former undefeated UFC Champion, Rousey is one of the most well-recognized athletes on the planet with a devoted following of her own.

Meanwhile, an argument can be made for Lynch being the most beloved wrestler in the WWE. Despite being a heel, Lynch often has received the loudest cheers of the night on a weekly basis.

Seeing how insanely over both women are makes it all the more necessary as to why they should main-event the show.

While we’re at it, let’s look at other possible contenders to the Survivor Series main event. It could be the Men’s Raw vs SmackDown Elimination Tag Match, as it did main event last year, but the build-up this year hasn’t been as stellar as it’s been in previous years.

We’re just a few days away from Survivor Series and Team Raw isn’t even complete yet. We sincerely doubt WWE are thinking of having the Women’s Raw vs SmackDown match main-event for the same reason. Women’s Team Raw doesn’t even have any members yet, as of this writing.

The only other option would have to be Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs WWE Champion AJ Styles, but seeing as it doesn’t have the “first time ever” luster that it did last year, we doubt it has a chance to main event the show. As a matter of fact, seeing as Lesnar vs Styles didn’t main event last year, it probably won’t main event this year.

So, by process of elimination – and because of the immense amount of hype surrounding the match that’s superseding everything else on the card – WWE’s only realistic option for that main event spot would have to be Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch.
