The Nov. 13 edition of WWE SmackDown was one of the more unpredictable and impromptu-feeling shows in a while that has dramatically changed the course of Survivor Series and beyond.
Last night’s WWE SmackDown was forced into making a major change regarding a marquee Survivor Series match, but that wouldn’t be the only change regarding this Sunday’s pay-per-view.
The course of WWE has been changed after last night and it’s anyone’s guess what happens next. With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the Nov. 13 edition of WWE SmackDown.
5. Opening Segment
AJ Styles was able to get past the Daniel Bryan roadblock a couple weeks ago before preparing for a Survivor Series 2017 rematch. However, things would take a rapid turn last night after The Phenomenal One opened up the show to address that rematch.
It was scheduled to be Styles vs. Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series for the second straight year, and that’s what Styles came out to talk about last night. He was in the middle of addressing the match when Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman made an appearance. The WWE Champion was all ears when Heyman addressed the pending match with The Beast Incarnate.
Heyman reiterated his statement from the previous night that there is nobody Lesnar would rather face than Styles at Survivor Series given how close he came to knocking off Lesnar last year. However, The Advocate stirred up the pot a bit by saying Styles is the second-best in-ring performer in the WWE behind Bryan. Styles didn’t take that too kindly and reminded everyone that he made Bryan tap out a couple of weeks ago.
The Yes Man came out to the ring and said if Styles says his name again out of context, he would punch him in the face. The Phenomenal One did say his name again, and chaos broke out. The two brawled until they eventually were held back in the ring and eventually backstage where Shane McMahon would make the blockbuster WWE Championship rematch between Styles and Bryan for last night’s main event.
This was an explosive and stellar way to kick off the show, and it set into motion what would become one of the more shocking Tuesday nights in a long time.
