NXT UK: Wolfgang Is The Best Choice To Beat Pete Dunne
With the NXT UK division finally here, it may be time for Pete Dunne to step down as champion. The man who has grabbed my attention as the top potential contender is Wolfgang.
Ever since the WWE first brought in the United Kingdom Championship, the division has been dominated by one man. Only the second ever WWE United Kingdom Champion, Pete Dunne has done a great job of representing an entire division that was yet to be created. Now that the NXT UK division has arrived, it is time for a change.
Pete Dunne has become one of the most accomplished champions in WWE history. He has shattered records including Asuka’s NXT Women’s Championship and Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship reigns. At just the young age of 25, Pete Dunne has one of the most promising careers ahead of him, and he has accomplished so much in NXT. It is exciting to think about what’s in store for his future not only in NXT, but in WWE.
It is time to see what “The Brusierweight” can truly do on the main roster. Dunne has done the United Kingdom proud as their champion, he deserves to finally receive his call-up to the main roster.
The only thing that really now stand in Dunne’s way is his own championship. Pete Dunne isn’t the type to simply relinquish a championship; he will only leave the brand whenever there is somebody to truly replace him.
With the NXT UK division growing, the list of possible challengers is getting larger. Names like Noam Dar and Danny Burch have recently received shots at Dunne’s championship, and the challenges are getting tougher, but Dunne’s reign still pushes on. The NXT UK talent has the world buzzing. It is truly their time to shine, and one man seems to know it more than the rest.
Once a quarter-finalist in the inaugural United Kingdom Championship tournament, Wolfgang has been a major part of WWE’s expansion into the United Kingdom, though he has come up short twice in big circumstances.
The first was when he lost to eventual winner, Tyler Bate, in the UK Championship tournament, and the second instance was against Pete Dunne for the championship on NXT. However, that was a much different Wolfgang than the one we have now.
Ever since the debut of the NXT U.K brand, Wolfgang has shown a new vicious side of himself. Wolfgang aligned himself with Mark and Joe Coffey a few weeks ago turning heel in the process.
The following week, Wolfgang and The Coffey’s assaulted Ashton Smith. The trio followed a week later by attacking Mustache Mountain’s Trent Seven backstage. The trio said that now that one member of British Strong Style was done, there were only two left to go. Clearly, the WWE United Kingdom Champion is still on that list.
The once beloved Wolfgang has transformed into the heel that has been needed to face the champion. Wolfgang has been given opportunities in the past to be champion, but this isn’t a man looking to be handed anything.
Alongside The Coffey Brothers, Wolfgang is out to take what he’s yet to be successful in capturing, and he’s gathering such strong heel momentum that it’s more likely than ever that he could get the job done. I believe that it is only a matter of time before we see Wolfgang on the top of the NXT UK brand.
