At WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2, Bobby Fish came up with the most ingenious plan to give the Undisputed Era a decisive advantage, locking Pete Dunne, arguably the other team’s most dangerous wrestler, inside of his cage.

Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly are among the most sinister characters in WWE NXT, and they are as resourceful as they are malevolent. The quartet faced off against Hanson and Rowe (War Raiders), Ricochet, and Pete Dunne in the main event of TakeOver: WarGames 2, but Fish came up with an ingenious plan to keep Dunne out of it.

Dunne, the longest-reigning champion in WWE as the company’s United Kingdom Champion, has long held issues with the Undisputed Era. When Roderick Strong joined Cole and Co. at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, he did so by betraying Dunne in an NXT Tag Team Championship match. Strong could have easily won the titles with Dunne as his partner, but he chose to betray “The Bruiserweight”.

Likely worried about Dunne’s prowess in this match, Fish locked Dunne inside the pod with his lock, after being the last Undisputed Era entrant into the match. Fish threw away the key after taunting Dunne and attempting to strap him to the walls of the cage.

Fish, of course, was overjoyed, and he brought in some special chairs into the mix, with the yellow “Undisputed Era” imprinted onto them.

Although the official unlocked one of the locks with his key, that same key would not unlock the other. The officials finally managed to unleash Dunne by using bolt-cutters to break the lock, but the Undisputed Era did gain an advantage by beating up on Hanson, Rowe, and Ricochet with the United Kingdom Champion absent from the proceedings.

When the officials finally set him loose, Dunne did his best to make up for lost time, smashing Strong and O’Reilly with kendo sticks and introducing new weapons into the match. He then finally entered the WarGames structure to officially being the epic match.

The Undisputed Era clearly come to big games prepared, and they won WarGames last year. Fish is the X-Factor for UE, and this subtle stroke of genius was an example of that. Dunne made his way back in, but Fish sure added another curveball for the babyfaces to deal with.
