Though WWE SmackDown did win the Tag Team Elimination match on the Survivor Series pre-show, they lost all six main-card matches. How will Shane McMahon respond tonight?

For the past several months, WWE SmackDown has clearly established itself as the show of choice among the majority of the WWE Universe, setting itself up nicely for next year’s FOX debut.

SmackDown Live, however, had a poor showing at Survivor Series, losing every single match on the main card of the show. In the end, they were 6-1, with The Usos decisive pinfall on The Revival being their only victory.

On tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live, commissioner Shane McMahon will appear on “Miz TV” to deliver his laughably titled “State of the State” address. Shane has been rumored for a heel turn ever since winning the World Cup at “Crown Jewel”, defeating Dolph Ziggler after replacing an injured Miz.

Despite Miz’s “best efforts”, Shane could not single-handedly stand up to Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman, and the dominant Team Raw on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how Shane responds, with some wondering if he could call-up a main event-caliber star from NXT to help ignite the roster after the embarrassing loss to Raw.

Daniel Bryan won the WWE Championship on last week’s action-packed episode of SmackDown Live, defeating AJ Styles and ending The Phenomenal One’s year-long reign after a low blow. At this point, Bryan seems like a heel, but we’ll likely find out more tonight.

At Survivor Series, Charlotte destroyed Ronda Rousey with a kendo stick, avoiding a submission to the Raw Women’s Champion. It seems like she and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch are back on the same page, but with more edge to both of their characters. If the two team up tonight, the WWE Universe could be in store for one of the most memorable runs in recent memory. This is definitely a development to watch.

The New Day are one of WWE’s most creative teams inside the ring, as evidenced by their exchanges with The Revival at Survivor Series. Tonight, they’ll once again take on The Bar and The Big Show, but in a “Thanksgiving Feast Fight” that should prove to be another wildly entertaining gimmicked match involving Big E, Xavier Woods, and the eternally great Kofi Kingston.

Shinsuke Nakamura was also among the losers in champion vs. champion matches at Survivor Series, falling to Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins. I’m sure Nakamura will have another hilarious promo for the fans following his tough loss to Rollins, but will we get more clarity on his next challenger? It’s been a while since Nakamura had a set feud.

WWE SmackDown should be a fun show tonight, as there could be some meltdowns after Survivor Series. We saw a vignette for call-up Lars Sullivan, who was announced as an NXT call-up during the Survivor Series pre-show, on Raw last night, so will Shane respond to Stephanie with a new addition of his own?

Tune in tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET on the USA Network to find out, and check back here for live results, highlights, and grades.
