Charlotte Flair vs. Billie Kay
An aggressive Charlotte Flair, as expected, immediately starts putting the boots to Billie Kay, and she nearly locked in the Figure Four before Kay wisely scrambled to the outside. Charlotte quickly threw Kay back into the ring, but Kay was having none of it, running out of the ring. It was a wise decision, as she was simply baiting Flair, who received a swift kick to the face from the resourceful Peyton Royce.
That turned the tides of the match in Kay’s favor, who shoved Charlotte into the turnbuckle after a surprise roll-up. Kay and Royce started teaming up on Charlotte, who seemed to be in a dire situation due to the numbers advantage.
However, Charlotte is Charlotte. She’s stronger and more athletic than 90% of her opponents, which Kay quickly found out. Second laters, Charlotte wiped Kay out with “Natural Selection”, winning with relative ease after seeming vulnerable for seconds.
Lesson learned? Don’t turn your back to Charlotte, because “Natural Selection” is back at its finest.
But after the win, Charlotte wasn’t through. She challenged Royce to a fight, too, motioning the other half of the IIconics to jump in.
Royce clearly didn’t want any part of this, but an impatient Charlotte stated, “Peyton, I don’t have all day.”
Charlotte Flair vs. Peyton Royce
It seemed like Royce would accept, but she quickly jumped out of the ring, perhaps playing mindgames with Charlotte. Of course, a confident Flair stood firm in the ring, knowing that she is the one clearly in Royce’s head after defeating Royce’s life partner in mere seconds.
Early in the match, Charlotte started crushing Royce in the corner before throwing her to the outside. Flair delivered her signature chops to Royce over the barricade, with each chop singing more. However, Royce turned the tables, once again working with Kay to gain advantage and build some confidence.
Satisfied with the damage inflected on the former two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, Royce rolled Charlotte back into the ring with her eyes on a quick victory. That, of course, would not transpire for Royce, whose haphazard pinfall attempts were kicked out with relative ease, despite Royce’s exasperated pleas to the referee.
Royce had a clear opportunity to win the match after Kay hit Charlotte in the back of the head, but Royce’s kick was too slow. Charlotte followed that up with her own hard kick to the head, and just when it seemed like Flair would pick up the win, Kay caused a disqualification to save her life partner.
The beatdown began. Fans chanted for “Becky!” to save Charlotte, but it seems like Flair didn’t need saving. An official denied the usage of a chair, which led to Kay and Royce being hit by double-spears.
Not finished yet, Charlotte bounced both women off of the announce table, turning the most of her ire to Kay, who was helpless by the barricade. An irate Charlotte then moved over to Royce, who was sent flying into the steel steps.
Kay and Royce were both sent over the announce table to finish things off, with Flair howling “Woos” as she stood on top of the announce table.
Rating: Good. Both matches were decent enough, as was the post-match beatdown. I’m loving this new direction for Charlotte.
