The Nov. 20 edition of WWE SmackDown was the blue brand’s follow-up to the Survivor Series pay-per-view in a night that saw the fallout from Sunday.
Last night’s WWE SmackDown had a pretty good focus on comedy at times, but when it was time to get serious, it did so with a few matches and segments that stood out.
The blue brand now shifts to the buildup towards the TLC pay-per-view next month for the final main roster pay-per-view of the year. With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the Nov. 20 edition of SmackDown Live.
5. Opening Segment
Survivor Series’ impromptu match between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey turned out to be one of the most memorable matches in recent memory. Charlotte has returned to an edgier side of her character that hasn’t been seen in a long time, and she continued that trend last night.
The Queen’s attack of Rousey at Survivor Series was pretty shocking to see, but she wasn’t showing any remorse last night when she opened up the show to address her actions on Sunday. Charlotte’s demeanor was completely different during this segment and you could hear the tone in her voice was much edgier than what it had been.
She said she did what she did for the blue brand and for The Man, Becky Lynch. Charlotte also said she wants to do it again, but GM Paige came out and put a damper on The Queen’s mood. Paige said she didn’t have a problem with Charlotte attacking Rousey in the name of SmackDown, but she had a problem with her attacking referees in the process. This led to a $100,000 fine before The IIconics came out to get in their two cents.
Billie Kay and Peyton Royce tried their usual tricks, but Charlotte was having none of it, and she wanted – and got – a match with Kay. This segment was great when it was just Charlotte speaking her mind, but it went downhill a little bit when everyone else got involved. Particulars aside, this was a big moment in The Queen’s career.
Charlotte is back to her old self, and the rest of the women’s division on Tuesday nights better watch out.
Final Grade: B+
