Alexa Bliss is now in charge of the WWE Raw Women’s Division, so watch out
Despite dealing with a few combustible elements, Alexa Bliss was able to “manage” the WWE Raw Women’s Division to victory at Survivor Series, so an impressed Baron Corbin decided to put her in charge of the entire Women’s Division going forward.
As Baron Corbin told Alexa Bliss backstage on WWE Raw tonight, he’s been quite the busy man as the acting GM. Most of his attention has been focused on Braun Strowman, whose elbow he injured last week in a heinous post-match assault, teaming up with Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre to form a stable that threatens to rock Raw to its core.
Perhaps Bliss has designs on a similar reign of terror in the Raw Women’s Division, as her character is well-known to the likes of Sasha Banks and Bayley. Bliss is the main antagonist in the Raw Women’s Division, and Corbin has given her the green light to run the entire division, reasoning that he’s far too busy to manage it on his own.
Bliss was always expected to move into a managerial role, with some speculating that she could replace Corbin, whose gig is on the line against Strowman at TLC. While it seems like Bliss won’t directly replace Corbin, it’s possible she could eventually become the GM of Raw, working directly under commissioner Stephanie McMahon, if she impresses and Corbin loses in December.
The Raw Women’s Division and the WWE Universe should be quite afraid of what Bliss will do as the unofficial GM of the division, given everything she’s done in the past. For example, she was the one who did her best to embarrass Bayley during their rivalry last year, and she even tried to break apart the friendship between Bayley and Banks in the build to Survivor Series this year.
Alicia Fox and Mickie James have essentially been Bliss’s stablemates this year, doing their best to help her against current Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, who could be put in some uncomfortable situations with her past rival in charge. While Rousey could potentially incur the wrath of Bliss, “The Goddess of WWE” will undoubtedly give Fox and James some favors.
The same could be said for Nia Jax, assuming she and Bliss, being former best friends, have patched things up after their heated rivalry several months ago. After winning the Evolution Battle Royal, Jax has a title match against Rousey scheduled for TLC, and it’s possible Bliss decides to stack the deck against her.
Bliss being in charge of the division is definitely intriguing, even if Corbin has made many of us annoyed with the “heel GM” trope, given all of his “sudden No DQ” matches. That said, Corbin has been entertaining due to his inflated ego and sheer silliness, and Bliss has always been brilliant (Moment of Bliss, anyone?). It’s hard to trust WWE to book this correctly, but let’s hold some cautious optimism here.
