The Usos Proved Once Again Why They Are The Best Tag Team In WWE
By Brett Grega
Whether its on the mic or in the ring, The Usos are the best tag team in WWE today. They proved that fact yet again on the November 27th SmackDown when they put on the best WWE match of the week against The Bar.
No matter how many times they fight the same tag team, it always seem like The Usos find a way to mix it up to keep the match-up feeling fresh and exciting. Their match against The Bar on the November 27th edition of SmackDown was no different:
The Usos, once again, put on the match of the week in WWE. At this point, I’ve almost come to expect that from them. The Usos are truly on another level in their tag team matches, consistently putting out action packed bouts no matter the stakes or the opponents.
It’s not just in their matches either, The Usos have been dynamite on the mic ever since they debuted their new look during their heel turn in early 2016, just ask Xavier Woods and The New Day.
That’s precisely why The Usos are currently the best tag team in WWE. From putting out thrilling matches to spitting fire in their promos, The Usos can do it all. It’s also why, after their recent win against the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, they need to recapture the tag team belts.
Since WrestleMania, when The Usos lost the tag team titles, the SmackDown tag division has felt stale. The Bludgeon Brothers, while capable of putting on exciting matches in the ring, just couldn’t find a way to develop a real connection with the audience it seemed. Then, after The Bludgeon Brothers lost the gold, the titles became wrapped up in a rather mundane rivalry between The New Day and The Bar which has carried us to where we are at today.
While its true part of the reason the tag team division has felt boring as of late is because of a lack of development of new teams on SmackDown, its also due to the lack of ingenuity and creativity in these recent rivalries.
I would argue we haven’t seen a fired up New Day since their feuds with The Usos and The Shield. That’s a shame, in my opinion, considering how great The New Day can be when they put the comedy segments on the back-burner and start bringing the intensity.
Similarly, The Bar have been stuck without a real direction for their characters despite being the reigning tag team champions. Sheamus and Cesaro have been forced to rely on a Big Show heel turn, the WWE get out of jail free card for feuds, to inject some intrigue into their rivalry with The New Day.
If The Usos were to capture the SmackDown Tag Team Championships once again, they’ve proven time and time again that they can bring the spark that would light up these tired rivalries. They have the skills on the mic to bring out the intensity in The New Day, while having the in-ring chops to generate interest in seeing The Bar again.
Most importantly though, The Usos have shown they are just plain great enough right now to be able to make these rivalries feel fresh and exciting again.
While we wait for WWE to inject some new teams into the SmackDown tag division, WWE should let Jimmy and Jey bring the tag team gold back to where it belongs, on lock down in The Uso Penitentiary.
