On tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling, Impact sets the stage for the Impact World Championship match that will take place at Homecoming between Johnny Impact and Brian Cage.

It’s a situation only seen once a year (if the X Division Champion feels like it) on Impact Wrestling, which makes it special each time it happens. At Impact’s pay-per-view Homecoming, airing on January 6th, X Division Champion Brian Cage will be invoking his right to Option C, a rule former X Division Champion Austin Aries instated for himself and successive champions in 2012.

Option C of course gives the X Division Champion the right to challenge for the Impact World Championship. Brian Cage has had a gold-standard year with Impact Wrestling, remaining nearly undefeated for the better part of 2018. If there was ever an X Division Champion who deserved to be called Impact World Champion, it’s Cage.

Tonight on Impact, expect a bit of a history lesson on Option C, and maybe even a bit of back-and-forth between Cage and the Impact World Champion, Johnny Impact.

Eli Drake, Impact’s biggest problem child at the moment, will go one-on-one with My Favorite Wrestler Tommy Dreamer tonight. Drake, as you all remember, really stepped on Dreamer’s toes a couple of weeks ago when he went on a tirade against Abyss/Joseph Park and all the “old-timers”, so to speak, and the forefathers of Hardcore still in the wrestling business.

What I’m personally really looking forward to tonight is the debut of The Rascalz, comprised of Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Trey Miguel. Impact aired a promo for The Rascalz in the style of a That 70’s Show basement scene, and the live crowd in Las Vegas absolutely loved it. Taking those three amazingly talented wrestlers and adding comedy bits to hype them may mean absolute gold for Impact.

All that, plus Jordynne Grace and Katarina will have their rematch tonight, and the Knockouts Championship Number One Contender Taya Valkyrie will be in action as well. Be sure to tune in to all the action tonight on POP TV at 10PM/9PM EST, and follow along with us for live updates, results, reviews, and grades for tonight’s episode!
