The Dec. 10th edition of WWE Raw was the final episode before this Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view in a night that focused on the recent shortcomings of the red brand as well.
Last night’s WWE Raw saw a couple of unexpected twists that affect TLC, and the entire brand moving forward, with the past few weeks of poor programming being brought into storyline form.
The final pay-per-view of the year is only days away and the red brand needs a solid showing to close out 2018 and head into 2019. With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Dec. 10 edition of WWE Raw.
5. Personal Feel To Ruby Riott vs. Natalya Brings Out The Best In Each Respective Character
The WWE has never been shy in regards to using personal, real-life events in a rivalry to further that storyline. The same can be said for the recent feud between Natalya vs. Ruby Riott, a storyline that has gotten extremely personal over the past few weeks.
The issues between Natalya and The Riott Squad started when Ruby Riott purposely broke the sunglasses that belonged to Natalya’s late father, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. From that point on, Nattie has been putting up with The Riott Squad’s disrespect and cheap attacks, but she will get her chance to silence them once and for all when she takes on Ruby Riott at TLC in a tables match.
Last night saw this feud get taken to another personal level when Nattie was cutting a passionate babyface promo about making Ruby Riott pay. Then entered The Riott Squad, who had a table covered up that would end up taking an even more personal shot than what has gone on in recent weeks. Ruby started by saying Natalya was a disgrace to her family, and continued to focus on Natalya’s late father.
She capped it off when she unveiled the table with The Anvil’s picture on it, and said after TLC, Nattie would never be closer to her father than when she goes crashing through that table. It was almost awkward to see how personal they took this, but it helps out both characters involved tremendously. It shines a bright light on the pureness of Nattie’s babyface character, but it really focuses on what dastardly heels The Riott Squad are as well.
Maybe the personal feel of this rivalry is going a bit too far, but there’s no denying how much it has helped out the respective characters involved.
