Kevin Owens
It would be an understatement to say that Kevin Owens had a rocky 2018. There were some ups, but definitely some downs. After spending the end of 2017 targeting then-SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon, Owens found himself as an accessory at WrestleMania. Shane McMahon teamed with a returning Daniel Bryan to take on Owens and Sami Zayn. It was a great match, but the story was clearly all about Bryan’s return from injury.
After coming up short at WrestleMania, Kevin Owens and his partner Sami Zayn were free agents. They were eventually able to find a home on Raw after being booted from SmackDown Live, but Owens’ year didn’t improve much. He ended up in a heated rivalry with Braun Strowman, and it didn’t exactly turn out to be a boon for Owens.
Their feud led to memorable moments like Owens in a porta-potty being thrown off the Raw stage, Owens’ car being flipped, and even Braun Strowman chunking Owens off the top of a steel cage and through the announcer’s table. In the following weeks, Owens began to focus on Bobby Lashley, but things were cut short by some lingering knee issues. After an attack by Lashley, Owens went on the shelf to get double knee surgery.
While it was reported at the time of the surgery that Owens’ return timetable would put him back in February or March, if rehab has been going well he could certainly be ready by the end of January. On top of that, WWE has already hyped the eventual returns of Owens and his partner Sami Zayn from their respective injuries. Could the former Universal Champion make a monumental return at the Royal Rumble and punch his ticket to WrestleMania?
